The
Deytheur Trust
The Deytheur Trust is how The Deytheur
Educational Foundation charitable trust is known locally. It was formed
in 1981 and distributes grants to A-level and University students
who live (or whose parents live) in the Deytheur Hundreds which includes
the Llandrinio area. Its grant monies are distributed out of the interest
which has accrued from the property of the old Deytheur Grammar School
which was closed in 1967. Founded in 1690 by The Hon Andrew Newport,
Lord of the Manor, the old school was demolished in 1971 but the schoolhouse
still remains.
The general terms of the trust are that the Trustees are allowed to
assist anyone who lives in the area of the Manor of Deytheur, and
who has not attained the age of 25, by way of grants or otherwise.
In practice grants are usually awarded for purposes of education to
applicants between the ages of 16 and 24 years of age and can include
applications for money to help in the purchase of text books and so
on.
Applications should be received by the
end of October and the grant meeting is held in November. Application
forms can be obtained from :
